Why do airplanes often explode during emergency landing?
Because they are often carrying large quantities of combustible jet fuel when they land, and if anything during the landing causes the fuel tanks to rupture and spill, there is going to be plenty of hot metal around to act as ignition sources. This is why it’s common in risky landing situations to burn off or dump as much fuel as possible before landing… to minimize the risk of fire.
