Why do academic employees receive so much sick time? Why is there a pay out for vacation and sick time when someone leaves the University?
The University of Illinois General Rules proscribe the vacation and sick leave benefits for University employees. Included in the provision for the amount of vacation and sick is the provision to pay any unused, accrued vacation. Compensable sick leave for sick leave accrued between January 1, 1984 and December 31, 1997 is paid in accordance with Public Act 90-65 and the General Rules.
