The United States held back in joining the war over in Europe, trying to remain neutral until it cancelled oil trade with Japan, causing the Japanese to attack us where it hurt, Pearl Harbor. President Roosevelt delcared war on Japan on December 11, 1941, causing Germany (Hitler primarily), who were allies with Japan to delcare war on the United States. Now we were in it strong and there was no turning back.
