Why didn’t the store flood in 2008?
The flooding in 2008 was associated with the Iowa River watershed; the Iowa City store is located in the Ralston Creek watershed. Staff did sandbag the store in 2008 when water began to back up along the creek because it could not drain to the river. A couple of high-intensity rain events raised creek levels to the top, but the creek did not overrun its banks.
