Why didn’t Raytheon expand in Tucson?
A. Time, schedule and costs took Tucson off the table as an option. There is no capability to build within the existing FACO compound because of explosive facility siting regulations. The acquisition of additional land, development of site infrastructure, and road work on undeveloped land would not support current schedule requirements. Operationally, long-term encroachment concerns exist because of surrounding industrial and residential development.
