Why didn Martin Luther King, Jr., include Asian in his speech?
Seriously, the man was trying to make a point that was poignant, succinct and meaningful. He simply was trying to make the speech flow well and resonate with the audience, that’s all. He did not have all day to list every ethnicity under the sun. As you will note, he only said Protestants and Catholics. If you want to “go there,” your argument should apply to his lack of coverage of the array of faiths as well. This is not said to discount Asians, Hispanics and so on. There really is no such thing as a White man or a Black man from the perspective of the color spectrum. It’s just a representation. I am inclined to think his saying Black men and White men included all the colors in between. Perhaps he could have said Black men to White men, Jews to Gentiles, and Protestants to Catholics. I don’t know. But this is seriously not an issue.
