Why didn Kobe compete in the Slam Dunk competition the second time?
It was in 1997 when kobe joined and won the dunk contest. It’s a no-brainer that kobe joined at the time when the contestants are less competitive and have inferior dunking abilities. The next year, there was no slam dunk competitioner. In 1999, the lockout prevented another dunk competition. In the year 2000, a new slam dunk king emerged and who is considered by many as the best and most-skilled dunker of all time. Vince Carter competed against the likes of T-Mac and Steve Francis because he knew he can bag the award. Kobe who was then in tip-top shape opted not to join because he obviously knew that he had no chance against T-Mac and Francis, much less Carter. C’mon, who are we kidding here. Just review Kobe’s dunks when he won the slam dunk competition. They are all garbage, not even one can rank among the top 20 all time dunks.
