Why didn Kerry Minnear sing lead vocals in concert?
According to Derek Shulman, “[Kerry] had a very weak voice in terms of projection. I mean on tape, when we actually recorded the vocals, the signal-to-noise ratio was pretty heavy on his voice. He’s got a great voice but it’s weak. You wouldn’t have heard it live, you would have just heard the instruments. Also, he wasn’t very confident singing live, he was always nervous about that. We had a band with a lot of instruments and if you turned up his vocal, the rest of the thing would feed back.
