Why did you publish with Booklocker, a print-on-demand (POD) publisher?
POD publishers operate differently from traditional publishers. Rather than printing thousands of copies of a book in hopes that people will order them, they print the books when a retailer or customer orders them. POD is the publishing method of the future – it’s much faster, more efficient, and less wasteful of resources than traditional publishing. Also I chose to publish this way because traditional publishers are so slow. One house kept my manuscript for a full six months just to evaluate it, telling me they were almost sure they would select it for publication. When they decided not to, I felt relieved because I could only imagine how long it would have taken them to go through the entire publishing process! Since I’m an editor, I didn’t need their editing services. With a print-on-demand publisher, the publishing process took less than two months from start to finish, and I maintained control of the final product.
