Why did you decide to replace him with a newcomer, Deepak Chaudhary who had only penned lyrics before?
Deepak had written the lyrics for Shaher ki ladki and was a good friend of Sunil. Sunil knew and liked his work and recommended him. The producer and I met him and heard some of his compositions and realized that he had a lot of fire in him. In this industry it is difficult to establish yourself unless you have talent and Deepak has loads of it. He’s not a fluke. Just wait and watch out for his score. I’m very happy with his work. He’s so enthusiastic and hardworking. If I ask him for one tune he will come up with 20 unlike other temperamental composers who will throw a tantrum if you ask for a variation. I have learnt so much about permutation-combination from Deepak. Have you songs been picturized in exotic foreign locales as is the trend now? I have confined my film to Mumbai and Mauritius since the story is set in a city. I don’t like to suddenly cut to the Alps even if the heroine is a desi Hindustani.
