Why did you choose Fagunwas books, there are other Yoruba writers out there?
We wanted something that will be in a series. We were looking for an author, one that must have done more than two books and most of our authors; they are like one timers. That’s the first. The second is that we were looking for epic writing, not just a contemporary one-off or something that does not make sense. We were looking for something that is a little bit cerebral and has grandeur. That really talks about the richness of our culture and gives a lot of lessons and we found that in D.O. Fagunwa. We also found that there are a couple of other writers; like we are looking at Cyprian Ekwensi, from the eastern part of the country but which is also very diverse and epic and gives a lot of background to our culture. That’s very important to us. But the person we saw is D.O. Fagunwa but we are still looking at other authors. For 2010, we are looking at Ekwensi, Achebe, Wole Soyinka, the likes.
