Volkswagen felt that particular motor combination (Ed: 90hp TDI) was poorly suited to the new Passat in this market. This also is based on U.S. sales and marketing figures and the high European demand that I previously mentioned. There will be a future Passat TDI model that will feature a new line of TDI motors probably sometime next model year.
