WHY DID TOM DELAY RESIGN?
According to The Washington Post DeLay’s decision to resign may have more to do with the news that three days earlier his former deputy chief of staff, Tony C. Rudy, pleaded guilty to conspiracy and corruption charges, telling federal prosecutors of a criminal enterprise being run out of DeLay’s leadership offices. Rudy’s demise is only the latest of DeLay’s top aides and associates facing legal issues — many of whom are also powerful players in the GOP infrastructure.
