Why did the US lose the Vietnam War?
The United States faced fierce opposition from both the Vietnamese and domestic activists than it anticipated. It faced a long, slow struggle with a cost that could not be tolerated. Finally, US leaders misjudged the Vietnamese, thinking that they could be initimidated by American bombs and won over by American goods. When this turned out not to be the case, it became clear that the war could not be won in the way the American’s had wanted.
