You are absolutely right. We would’ve gladly let the Taliban alone, if for no other reason than there were zero military plans for getting forces to Afghanistan, if they’d of turned over Bin Laden. They were warned that if they did not, the US would consider them as allies and act accordingly.

taliban lead a terrorist attack (9/11) and the taliban was the government for afghanistan. osama was a leader in the taliban and he coordinated the attack so he was our main target.

Well, for one thing, heroin production in Afghanistan went up by 400% in the first year of U.N. troops being there.. and then there’s the oil, territory, strategic position. I think someone must ask this question every week or so.
