Howie Mandel’s performance set for Nov. 11 in Carbondale has been canceled. Representatives of Southern Lights Entertainment, who were scheduled to bring Mandel – comedian, actor and host of popular television game show “Deal or No Deal” – to Shryock Auditorium at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, announced the show was canceled because of a conflicting schedule for the performer’s new book tour. “We were really excited about the possibility of bringing such a popular entertainer to Southern Illinois, but unfortunately there was a last-minute scheduling conflict with his book tour that couldn’t be overcome,” said Bryan Rives, director of SIU Event Ser-vices, which helps facilitate Southern Lights Entertainment. Officials were unable to reschedule a performance for later this year. Rives hopes to bring Mandel to the region sometime in 2010, he said.
