According to the “Atheism and Religion” Wikipedia article… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atheism_and_religion …the Kaufman decision said that for purposes of 1st Amendment protection, atheism is a form of religion. Hence federal, state and local law cannot single out atheist organizations or practices for different treatment than more mainstream theist religions. I actually think this is a good thing.
