Why did the school board approve a teachers contract that the district didn have the funds to pay for?
The School Board DID NOT enter into a contract it did not have the funds for. Ohio Revised Code prohibits all governments from entering into a contract unless you can certify funds are available. The board negotiated a fair compensation package, prior to the onset of the recession, and more than doubling the teachers premium contributions to the health insurance plan. \Our teachers and administrators recognize that we need to make sacrifices for the benefit of the District and have accepted pay freezes to save the District funds.
