No, it’s not tea and no it’s not “no taxation without representation”. It’s because the Americas were printing their own money out of thin air and the King wasn’t having it. He felt like we had racked up a debt during the French and Indian War and we had to pay for it. So instead of paying for it, we started printing our own money which meant we didn’t have to pay taxes. The King didn’t like it so he started putting the Stamp Act and other legislation out to get the money to pay the bills anyway necessary. When you think about it in this manner, you can sort of see why they thought of us as ungrateful spoiled brats. Oh well, we still kick their British Buttock so who cares… But we stumbled on something great that we lost which is a fiat currency is the ultimate weapon against tyranny. If we had a currency whose interest rate was not controlled by a central bank (i.e. interest free notes), nor back by gold (which if we switched to a monetary system backed by gold…big secret aloud…
