Why did the Persians invade Greece?
The Persian king then decided that the only way he could stop this interference in his domains was to subjugate mainland Greece, install puppet regimes, and so establish an ethnic frontier. This invasion was delayed by an uprising in Egypt, and the death of King Darius, but in 480 BCE his son Xerxes led an expedition to do the job. It failed, but that is another story.
