Why did the OpenSEA Alliance focus first on 802.1X?
As mentioned earlier, the primary concern was giving users and network operators standards-based choice to drive 802.1X ubiquity and help individual organizations implement 802.1X in their networks. Other methods of secure edge access to networks such as IPsec and SSL VPN are more mature and would not have benefited as much from The OpenSEA Alliance’s efforts.
