Why did the Olympic Games matter so much to the Ancient Greeks?
This enquiry develops an understanding of the daily lives and beliefs of the Ancient Greeks through an in-depth focus on the Olympic Games. Children’s interest in the Ancient Greeks is hooked through a whole-class role play. They then use a range of visual sources to find out about what happened at the ancient Olympics. At each stage in the enquiry children are encouraged to think about the ideas and beliefs of the Ancient Greeks, and how these were expressed through the Games. At the end of the enquiry, children are challenged to produce a Today at the ancient Olympics TV news report.
