Why did the life and work of the cowboys change in the years 1865-95?

The people from the east were starting to move out to the west (the frontier where the cowboys were) and were starting to settle the land. New inventions came out which made the work for the cowboys easier. For ex. the barbed wire (Joseph Glidden’s invention) made it wasier to corral the catlle into one area, rather than trying to keep them in a pack. The Gilded age (time period when lots of new ideas and inventions took place) was right around this time period. So they were affected by people and inventions alike. So they started living in houses instead of outside and some got ranches instead of moving around from time to time. The transportation of the cattle was also a hard thing til this time period. They took long trips to take their cattle to places where they could sell/transport them. It was a lot easier to transport cattle do to trains and railroads.
