Why did the Korean begin?
First, I’m Korean (South). The Korean war began on 25 June 1950. The North Korean army (the People’s Army) invaded South Korea after their leader Kim Il Sung(Kim Jong Il’s father) discussed his plan to invade the South with the Soviet Union under Stalin. At the time, the world was in the state of the “cold war”, so the United States and the Soviet Union wanted to expand their power and influence in the Far East. Especially since Mao Zhedong and his Communist Party came into power in China in 1949, the United States had started to feel nervous about the expansion of Communism. In addition, McCarthyism was the dominant theory in the US politics and they were hunting communists in Congress. That is why the United States sent General McArthur and his army to the Korean Peninsula just after the Soviet-supported North Korea invaded South Korea.
