Why did the Klingbeils start doing experiments with prayer?
The Klingbeils perceived that in the future as society becomes more scientific and maybe secular, paranormal claims of which prayer is one should become more accountable to society. It’s inescapable. For good or ill, society is becoming image oriented. Written and oral information is being substituted with optics. Visual electronic impressions flood thought. Society has gone over the tipping point from trusting the reality of words to trusting the reality of images. Reading for the meaning of words is being replaced with images seen as truth for numbers of people. The Klingbeils of Spindrift noticed this switch in what people trusted as real and true. The Klingbeils conceived of modest experiments as images or symbols of what individual and group prayer might do for mankind. It was presumed that prayer produces order.
