Why did the federal government decline buying CRC mineral rights after making an announcement in 2002?
Discussions with the federal government to acquire Colliers minerals under federal lands began in the mid-1990s, and an agreement was reached in 2002. However, Congress chose not to provide funding for the acquisition during the years that followed and the agreement expired. As a result, CRC resumed work on the exploration and production of its minerals.
