Why did the Europeans consider Native Americans to be superior to Africans?

This mostly happened in some Latin American countries, I think, because of a caste system, by the Europeans. Since the Spanish didn’t bring too much women they were allowed to mix. Native Americans were considered a nation of their own while Africans were considered slaves ( since to the Europeans…Africans made better slaves) and had no rights, although the natives were still treated like crap. Whites with some Native American blood were still able to be considered White, if they had a good amount of white in them. Native Americans had some features that Europeans considered “better” like the straight hair and lighter skin. Plus Mestizos made up a majority and some natives were able to pass as one. I think it also had something to do with the church/religion. I don’t think the Europeans really cared if some Africans or Natives were advance, they just wanted power and looked for a way to exploit people and control them.
