The Equal Rights Amendment failed to be ratified in all fifty states. There were an ideology that the ERA was double speak for laws that were already in place.

The Equal Rights Amendment caused questions because some women felt that it did not give them any more rights than they already had under the Constitution. Also they felt that this would obscure the traditional distinction between the sexes. Chacha!
