Why did the dynasty Jack Walker build fall apart so easily?
It might not seem like it but the dynasty hasn’t fallen apart at all. The fact we are still in a league and position that is above our ‘natural level’ is a testament that the dynasty is alive and well. Jack Walker, after the initial large cash burst, for the time, set up a business model that would sustain the club for the long run to compete at the top table of English football. Not necessarily for the title but in the top league and we receive 5 million each year for 50 years under the trust fund he created in the event of his death. The reason we slid down the table was simple, the team created by Kenny Dalgish /Jack Walker was disbanding and the replacement team was never going to be as good. Other clubs were coming into good money in better / more fashionable areas as Blackburn and we struggled to compete. The managerial appointments made by Walker post-Kenny were ambitious but weak (Hodgson / Harford / Brian ‘God Dam’ Kidd) and we were relegated in 1999 after a bad run. We have s
