Why did the district waste money on new lighting fixtures? Couldn they spend our money better?

The lighting project was funded by grant money received from Illinois Clean Energy. The total cost of the project was $223,908. We received $120,000 from the grant, leaving the district portion of $103,908. Through the lighting project we were able to add and/or upgrade lighting at the Primary School, Middle School, and High School buildings. This project provided better lighting, as well as electrical cost savings from more energy-efficient lighting fixtures. The project will pay for itself in just a few years.
