Why did the district ask for an operating levy in May?
Because of the way schools are funded in Ohio, most districts, especially those with growing enrollments, need to request new operating levies every 3-4 years just to cover modest inflationary increases in personnel costs, utilities, transportation, etc. The last operating levy for Mason City Schools was passed in 2001.
