Why did the Board cut high school busing?

0

The Board reluctantly cut busing for grades 9-12 because it will save the district tens of thousands of dollars that will be dearly needed in the near future. After an impressive plea by the busing staff, the Board made a compromise. They extended maintaining high school busing service until after the winter season could be expected to be finished. In addition to the extension, they agreed to a shuttle system for the remainder of the year. On March 7th, the high school busing system will be reduced to a “shuttle” style format. This was decided upon as a way to ensure the safety of some of the high school’s younger students and to alleviate some of the inconvenience this change would have on parents. This did not come with a small price though. This will cost the district tens of thousands of dollars that could have been used to save other integral academic programs in the future.
