Why did The Beatles not play at Woodstock in 1969?
This one is an easy answer – because they had long ago stopped performing. Their last tour was in the Summer of 1966, with their last show being given in Candlestick Park in San Francisco. They did that impromptu gig on he rooftop of Abbey Studios in January of 1969, but that was it. They were a studio band – a new phenomenon in the Sixties. Bob Dylan also didn’t play Woodstock, though there were plenty of rumours that he was going to show up – especially during the Band’s set. It never came to pass, of course.
