I hope that the reason we dropped the atomic bombs on Japan had nothing to do with religion. And they are usually Buddhists and/or worshiped ancestors or the Emperor, but not exactly atheists. Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in Dec. 1941, that is a historical fact, the war went on then for nearly 4 years. I don’t know what you have read or heard, but there is no doubt about the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. There has never been any denial by the Japanese, including the pilots. The bombs probably would have been used on Germany if they had been ready before the Germans surrendered in May, 1945. Many of the scientists who worked on the Manhattan Project, the project that developed the bombs were refugees from Europe, including Jews who left before the Holocaust started. I think the idea of getting Hitler with the Bomb was appealing to many involved.
