Why did the Americans drop atomic bomb in Nagasaki and Hiroshima?
They dropped the first bomb to force Japan into surrendering and the second to show that more could follow,and thus reinforce this demand for surrender. One must understand the mentality of Japanese people at the time. For many centuries, Japanese people were brutally taught from birth, to be totally subservient to their superiors. This was still the situation after world war one, except at this time, the Emperor, Hirohito was honoured like a God. Unfortunately this Emperor had an unhealthy addiction to everything concerning the military, he had been absolutely fixated by such things since childhood. Some say this was because he was handicapped, and suffered from an inferiority complex. This military fixation consoled these feelings and gave him a sense of power.
