Why did Teck start e-waste recycling?
Fundamentally, Teck’s commitment to recycling extends beyond its own operations as the company strives to be part of the solution of reducing post-consumer waste going to landfills. With e-waste, the company realized it could play a role in responsibly addressing what has become a critical societal problem, while providing Trail Operations with a business opportunity that is independent of the metal price cycle. Teck has the capacity and existing equipment to process e-waste, which alleviates the burden on public solid waste systems and provides the company with another business opportunity.
