Why did Silverstone West change to Latigo Loop?
To eliminate the confusion of having two streets with similar names right next to one another. The word “Latigo” refers to “Latigo” Gordon in Monticello history. According to Dorothy Adams, W.E. “Latigo” Gordon, was appointed sheriff in 1896, and he was also the builder and proprietor of the Blue Goose Saloon around 1900. Both “Latigo” Gordon and the Blue Goose Saloon are mentioned in the “Blue Mountain” song. The word “Loop” is self-explanatory.
