Why did SfN’s international strategy change?
To better reflect the demographics of SfN’s growing international membership. “Regular” (non-student) international membership grew more than twice as fast as regular U.S. membership between 2001 and 2008. Currently, 36 percent of SfN members are non-U.S. residents and, of these, 91% live in developed countries (largely in Europe and Japan). Based on these demographics and results of the 2007 member survey, SfN Council felt the existing strategy should better meet the evolving needs of SfN’s broader international membership.
