Why did SC Johnson remove the chlorine?
SC Johnson manufactures each of its products to strict environmental standards. This formulation change represents the company’s commitment to use more environmentally-responsible ingredients in our products. We strive to make each of our products environmentally responsible throughout its life cycle – including formulation, packaging, application, and disposal. From a science-based standpoint, the greatest opportunity for us to further improve our footprint on the environment is in the materials we utilize in our products. For example, SC Johnson led the aerosol products industry in completely removing CFCs worldwide from all aerosol products in 1975; this eventually became Federal law. SC Johnson continues to take early action concerning materials that can have environmental issues. SC Johnson’s current efforts are a result of our initiative to look for more sustainable and environmentally acceptable plastics.
