Why did Rome attack Carthage?
Carthage was a place with large amounts of gold and silver. It was a free country. They were very proud of themselves for being rich. They sank any trade boat which wished to come and make a deal with them. This made Rome angry, and so the Punic wars were born. How did it affect Rome? The Punic wars affected Rome in very many ways. The reason why Rome built up such a big and strong army was because Carthage was so great. The only way they could defeat them was by forming a large army. The Romans also had to invent a ship in order to defeat Carthage. This ship was called the “Raven”. The Raven had a long plank of wood which had iron spikes built into it.
