Why did Robert Reich make the comment about “white male construction workers”?

The following statement is from Reich’s blog as reported on Associated Content: “if construction jobs go mainly to white males who already dominate the construction trades, many people who need jobs the most — women, minorities, and the poor and long-term unemployed — will be shut out.” What I believe he mistakenly meant by this statement was that he wanted to make sure that minorities and other at risk for unemployment groups also get equal opportunity from these funds. Whether or not it actually came across as that is up to private interpretation. Sources: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/1411081/robert_reich_excludes_white_male_construction.

Yes, he seems not to know what he’s talking about. He doesn’t care if he could hurt people just to deliver more words for his speech. He shouldn’t have mentioned skin color. I just don’t know if he knows that white male construction workers pay taxes, too. As a Filipino (brown) myself, I realize that it is always good to treat people equally. We breathe the same oxygen and we live on the same Earth. Racism hurts…
