Why did president johnson lie to america about their soldiers in vietnam war?

0

Johnson looked at Communism in Vietnam and didn’t like it. He believed that Vietnam should be a Democracy Pro American instead of the shape it was in now, he also didn’t want to see weak when dealing with the Communist threat. So he lied to the American people to gather enough support to declare war and continued to lie so he could keep the American people in tune with eliminating Communism. After the Tet Offensive however, Americans became very angry with Johnson, which started one of the bloodiest and angriest protest movement in history. Things got so bad that Johnson didn’t run the next year, being replaced on Richard Nixon.
