When you say “olden days,” when exactly are you referring to? The reason I am asking is that a lot of this still goes on now, but you have to realize that every family is different, and that this goes on to different degrees depending on nationality, education, skill, income, available time for food preparation, food and ingredient access, etc … You also have to remember that long ago people were not told about the nutritional value of the foods in stores or fast food restaurants. Including nutritional facts on packages and nutritional pamphlets in fast food restaurants is a new phenomena. There were probably a lot of products promoted as healthy that were anything but, and this still goes on today. Also, it takes a bit of educating to really determine how to read the nutrition labels and judge the product based on its information. Things are only slightly better today in my opinion. Children and teens really aren’t required to learn about food and nutrition in school, and sometimes
