Why did Pacha start a record label?
As a brand Pacha is probably one of the top three most recognised logos in house music, anywhere in the world. Many third party labels came to Pacha to license the two cherries and name to produce compilations, and so the first releases went that route. When I was approached to take over and develop the recording department I made it very clear that Pacha should get in the business of being a real record label, we should sign and own catalogue, develop artists and producers – not only would it be ultimately more beneficial as a business, it would also give us credibility. A brand like Pacha, that breaks records around the globe, should have its hands on new music and present it to the world ourselves – the owners and the brand director agreed and they stayed true to their word and have supported the development of the record label.
