Why did Otto Van Bismarck step down as Chancellor of Germany in 1890?

0

He was fired by the Kaiser, Wilhelm II. Bismarck strongly opposed the Kaiser’s plan to build up a strong navy and acquire overseas colonies, as he believed this would aggravate Britain (in which he was correct), and take money, manpower, and resources away from the German army (in which he was also correct). Bismarck’s policy had been to make Germany the strongest continental European power. This meant Germany could remain on friendly terms with Britain (who Bismarck saw as a natural ally of Germany), and not be seriously threatened by any other European power. So, the Kaiser fired Bismarck because he didn’t agree with his policy of building up a strong fleet to rival Britain.
