THAT is scary! It’s good you said “when I turned the wheel to park” and not “When I turned the wheel to change lanes on the interstate”. The steering wheel should only lock when the key has been removed fom the ignition. If it locked with the key in the ignition you need to have it looked at immediately. Dont Wait! The steering wheel should lock with the key out or it will lock with the key inserted and not turned but as soon as you turn the key to the ON position it should be completely unlocked. Something inside the lock cylinder may be malfunctioning. Have it looked at fast.
