This the now infamous Quantum drive “stickation” problem. If the drive is allowed to cool down(even for a short period of time) the drive lubricant will congeal and prevent the disks platters from rotating. Before you get a replacement, try lightly tapping the drive to loosen the lubricant. If this does not work try shaking and twisting the drive at the same time. One last thing to try is to lift the system up a couple of inches and drop it.
