The middle pedal is probably a practice pedal. It dampens the piano’s sound so it plays very quietly. Sometimes the pedal can be pressed down and then to the side to lock it in place. To release it, just press down and move it back to the center and back up. Or the pedal could possibly be stuck down. Experiment with it and see if you can get it working again.
