Why did more and more white Europeans begin to migrate to North America?
In the 16th, 17th. and 18th. centuries the majority of early settlers in North America came from England, Spain, France, Germany and the Netherlands for a variety of reasons ranging from economic enhancement to avoiding religious persecution. These countries represented the leading naval powers of that time and as such, had the means and military prowess to engage in exploration. Since the majority of the populations of these countries were made up of people of an Anglo European background, most would fall into the category of being “white”.
