Why did Minister Diefenbaker cancel the Arrow project?
He was Prime Minister, not Minister and the cancellation was officially announced on 20 Feb 1959. The Arrow was cancelled for a few reasons, one of which was financial and another of which was the fact that it was designed as a defence against aircraft-based bombers and the Russian Sputnik has just shifted priorities to defending against space-based missiles.
